On 7 November 2017 the "Energy Transition and Adaptation to the Effects of Climate Change: Local Strategies and Support Policies" Workshop was organized by the Covenant of Mayors Office in Bucharest (Romania) with the support of Alba Local Energy Agency - ALEA, the Agency for Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Bucharest - AEEPM and the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and Environment - FEDARENE.

75 participants attended the event, among them CoM signatory and non-signatory municipalities, associations of regional/local authorities, energy agencies, representatives at national and European levels, representatives of the central and regional authorities responsible for the management of European Funds and representatives of the European Investment Bank. The workshop aimed at exploring the synergies between local/national and the Covenant's energy and climate strategies, presenting the novelties of the initiative and discussing available support tools.

The event provided an opportunity to present SIMPLA's approach to the harmonization of Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and the benefits of such process in terms of increasing energy efficiency and achieving greater results through a cumulative impact.

Florin Andronescu, ALEA Director, presented SIMPLA and its methodology for harmonizing SEAPs and SUMPs with its innovative approach to provide support for cities, offering details on concrete cases of successful coordination between energy planning and sustainable mobility.

The participants' feedback was positive, expressing interest in SIMPLA methodology and tools with particular regard to the concrete results of the project.
